Ethereum gas
Slow, average, and fast, plus the dollar cost of a transaction once you know its gas. A plain transfer is 21,000. A token send is often near 65,000. The same transfer on Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Polygon is on gas lanes.
About this desk
- What you use it for
- Read Ethereum slow, average, and fast, then type gas units to price that transaction.
- What the numbers are
- The three speeds are Blockscout’s. Cost in ether is units times the gwei price. Dollars use the ether price they publish.
- What it leaves out
- Speeds are that endpoint’s snapshot. A busy or failed read says so. Other chains are on gas lanes.
Every desk is introduced the same way on the desk list.

How to read this
- Gwei
- A gwei is one-billionth of an ETH. The three quotes are Blockscout’s slow, average, and fast prices. The dollar line multiplies your gas units by that gwei, then by the ETH price.
- 21,000 gas
- That is the protocol minimum for sending ETH itself. Sending a token, or calling a contract, uses more gas. Type the real estimate or the dollar cost will be too low.
- How full the network is
- Utilization is 55.0% right now, with 2,012,568 transactions already today. A high percent means the slow quote is more likely to wait. A low percent means the slow quote is usually enough.
Compare that dollar cost with Bitcoin on send cost. Fees alone live on Bitcoin. The morning mix is on Today.
